We are pleased to share the publication of the MOSAIKON Final Report, which documents the achievements and lasting legacy of the MOSAIKON initiative after fifteen years of international collaboration.
Launched in 2008, MOSAIKON was established through a partnership between the Getty Conservation Institute, the Getty Foundation, ICCROM, and ICCM with the aim of improving the conservation, presentation, and long-term management of archaeological mosaics throughout the Mediterranean region. By combining training, professional exchange, field projects, and the development of practical conservation resources, the programme has made a significant contribution to strengthening professional capacity and promoting sustainable approaches to mosaic conservation.
As one of the four partner organizations, ICCM has been proud to contribute to the initiative by supporting the international community of mosaic professionals, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experience, and helping to disseminate good conservation practice through its conferences, publications, and professional network.
The MOSAIKON Final Report provides an overview of the programme’s objectives, activities, key achievements, and impact. It also reflects on the lessons learned through this long-term collaboration and demonstrates the value of sustained international partnerships in safeguarding mosaic heritage.
We invite our members, colleagues, and all professionals working in the field of cultural heritage conservation to explore the report and learn more about the outcomes of this remarkable initiative.
Although the MOSAIKON programme has formally come to a close, its legacy continues through the knowledge, professional networks, and conservation practices it has helped establish. ICCM hopes to build on this legacy and will continue to promote international cooperation, professional exchange, and capacity building, striving to support future initiatives that advance the conservation of mosaic heritage worldwide.
